The "Let’s Stay Put" project originated several years ago in the Upper Ross suburbs of Townsville at Kelso, Weir and Rasmussen State Schools. Now it is present in a number of other schools across QLD including Heatley, Vincent and Currajong State Schools in Townsville West. In 2009 a Mobility Support Teacher was appointed to Heatley SS - Mrs Noreen Letizia. This position has been funded through Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR) and Community Renewal. Noreen works with all students enrolling at our school to ensure that they get off to a great start and feel welcomed into our school community. She also works with students who are leaving or considering leaving to ensure all exit procedures are followed and all options are explored. If you are new to the school and have any concerns about your child’s transition please feel free to contact Noreen or one of our very helpful office staff to arrange an appointment. Please call 47 595333. Remember that coming to the same school every day for one year will make a difference to your child’s/children’s learning. Make the commitment to stay –and the Heatley School community will help you. Check out this website for further info: http://cms.jcu.edu.au/education/JCUPRD_048040 |
