Prep

Prep is a full-time program that runs five days per week and in 2017 IS COMPULSARY.

Children need to be 5 by 30 June in the year they enrol in Prep. To determine when your child can commence their prep year, see the Related Links on this page or view the Department's prep ready reckoner calculator to determine when your child can commence their preparatory year.

Our Prep enrolment at Heatley SS is capped at 100 students (up to 4 classes of 25 students). The enrolment management plan applies: those students who live in our catchment area or have current siblings already enrolled in our school, are automatically eligible for enrolment. Parents with students from out of catchment are welcome to make enquiries for possible enrolment into Prep in 2017.

From 2017, all Queensland children are required to undertake Prep, prior to commencing Year 1. Early or delayed entry to Prep are options which may be considered in specific circumstances and where it is in a child's best educational interests. Please carefully read the 'Early and delayed entry to Prep' link to the right of this page before making an appointment with the school. The principal, Deputy Principal and Head of Special Education Services do the Heatley SS student enrolments. We are happy to talk over your options with you.
