Heatley State School has experienced some building refurbishment and development over the years. The school has a large, modern and well appointed library named after Mrs Yvonne Down, the school's longest serving office secretary who still works here to this day. The Ray Dale Hall is named after the school's first principal and is shared with the Townsville PCYC who operate our School Hours Care service. The school is nearing 50 years old, so as you can imagine, it continues to require ongoing maintenance. In 2018 we are looking forward to the refurbishment of a whole block - 'L Block' over Term 2.

While the school receives some government funding to do this, the  Heatley SS P&C makes a strong contribution to maintaining the school grounds and where they can, they provide funds on minor and major works.  Parents are welcome to join our school P&C to assist in this work.
