Parent teacher communication

How can you help increase home-school communication Heatley SS?

Formal Parent Teacher Meetings
The school offers three times yearly formal parent-teacher meetings. One in Term 1, another in Term 3 and one in Term 4. Please see the school calendar for dates or call the school office.
Its important that teachers, parents and caregivers meet and discuss their student’s progress at school. If you were unable to attend a meeting, we strongly encourage you to contact your student’s teacher to arrange an alternative meeting time. Strong parent-school communication makes a big difference to a child’s success at school. Better relationships mean happier students, teachers and parents!!!

In 2014, the Heatley SS P&C Association endorsed a school requirement that Semester reports will not be issued to students to take home unless their parents have met with their class teacher at least once in the Semester. Instead parents will have to collect the report in person from the office. This policy remains in operation.

Informal meetings
Parents and carers can approach their child’s teacher any time for a quick informal chat. It is highly recommended however that these chats happen well before or after class and preferably by arrangement. That way you can get some quality time to chat. That said, please don’t wait for the mole hill to turn into a mountain and you and your child/children have become too distressed. The sooner you contact us, the sooner we find out, the sooner we can talk about it and do something.  Contact us.
