Heatley State School have four sports houses, the sports houses are named after local islands and in 2021 the local language names were added to our new house tents and banners.
* Orpheus - Goolboddi (red)
* Palm - Bwgcolman (blue)
* Magnetic - Yumbenun (yellow - previously white)
* Fantome - Eumil Li (green)
Each house has it's own chant - new chants were written by year 5 & 6 students in 2024.
There are 3 major inter-school sporting events throughout the year:
Swimming – Term 1
Cross country – Term 2
Track & field – Term 3
Students are selected to represent Heatley State School at these events through a combination of selection trials and inter-house carnivals. Cross country and track & field carnivals provide the opportunity for selection in Northern Region teams.
