How can you help increase home-school communication Heatley SS?
- Become a member of our P&C and attend monthly meetings and contribute your ideas.
Have informal meetings
If you have a question or concern about your child's well-being or academic progress, you can just drop in or call to speak with the Duty Officer, Mrs Kim Bode who is based in the office. Alternatively you can approach any one of the other senior staff who are on gate duty before and after school. Please feel free to chat to them and they will do their best to help. Parents and carers can also contact their child’s teacher. This is by appointment only. Please call 47595333. The office will let the teacher know and you will get a call back. We have a 24 hour answering system so you can leave a message at any time.
Attend formal Parent-Teacher Meetings
The school offers two times yearly formal parent-teacher meetings. One in Term 1 and in Term 3. Please see the school calendar for dates or call the school office. If parents have concerns in between these formal meeting offerings, they should contact the classroom teacher to arrange a time to meet.
Its important that teachers, parents and caregivers meet and discuss their student’s progress at school. If you were unable to attend a meeting, we strongly encourage you to contact your student’s teacher to arrange an alternative meeting time. Strong parent-school communication makes a big difference to a child’s success at school. Better relationships mean happier students, teachers and parents!
In 2014, the Heatley SS P&C Association endorsed a school requirement that Semester reports will not be issued to students to take home unless their parents have met with their class teacher at least once in the Semester. Instead parents will have to collect the report in person from the office. This policy remains in operation.
