Heatley State School has experienced some building refurbishment and development over the years.
In 2009-2010 the Australian Government provided funding to schools to build libraries and halls. In 2011 we were able to officially open our large, modern and well-appointed library naming it after Mrs Yvonne Down, the school's longest serving office secretary. Mrs Down was the school secretary in 1971 when the school opened and retired in 2019. The Ray Dale Hall was also opened in the same year and is named after the school's first principal, Mr Ray Dale. The Ray Dale Hall is utilised by our PE teacher and is used for school events including our weekly parades.
In 2017 a large roof was built between L, I and J Blocks to provide weather protection to Prep, Year 1 & 2 students. In 2018 L block was refurbished and security fencing was installed around the entire perimeter of the school. At the end of 2019 the amenities block (D block) was internally refurbished and painted externally.
In 2020, 300 solar panels were installed on the administration building as part of the Advancing Clean Energy Schools program. We can track the solar power we produce and use via the Solar Schools tracker. It is estimated these panels should produce enough electricity reduce our electricity bill by $50,000 annually.
In 2021 an extension to G Shed was completed, the main overed play area for younger children. These works were due to our Heatley SS P&C's successful application for a SSS grant. In addition, B block underwent a full refurbishment in 2021.
In 2022 a new playground was constructed for year 1 and 2 students.
Our tuckshop has been approved for refurbishment - we await a start date for this work.
The Heatley SS P&C also makes a strong contribution to the annual maintenance of our school grounds.
