We value open and respectful parent/carer communication, to support your
child’s learning and engagement. Guidelines are now available to help
parents/carers understand the types of information they can expect to receive
from state schools and appropriate contact channels. Find out more about these
guidelines in Queensland state schools: https://education.qld.gov.au/parents-and-carers/positive-school-culture
There are a number of ways you can connect with us to stay up-to-date about your child's education and our school community:
- contact our school office on 4759 5333 or email principal@heatleyss.eq.edu.au for general inquiries
- contact our school office to organise a meeting with teachers or other staff
- subscribe to our school communication channels - newsletter (emailed to parents fortnightly), website and Facebook page
- Become a member of our P&C and attend monthly meetings and contribute your ideas.
Attend formal parent-teacher meetings - these are offered two times per year in term 1 and in term 3. Please see the school calendar for dates or call the school office. If parents have concerns in between these formal meeting offerings, they should contact the classroom teacher to arrange a time to meet.
It is important that teachers, parents and caregivers meet and discuss their student’s progress at school. If you were unable to attend a meeting, we strongly encourage you to contact your student’s teacher to arrange an alternative meeting time. Strong parent-school communication makes a big difference to a child’s success at school. Better relationships mean happier students, teachers and parents!
