All staff at Heatley State School are committed to creating the conditions so that every day, in every classroom, every student is learning and achieving in quality ways. We believe that all children can learn and achieve to higher levels.

Our declared Values are:

  • Respect
  • Honesty
  • Personal Responsibility
  • Creativity
  • Relationships
  • Optimism

To this end, our motto and the basis for our school rules was developed in 2006  and stands to this day. It is called, "The Heatley Way". This is our public declaration of our beliefs about behaviour and learning and what our values in action look like.
WE EXPECT ALL MEMBERS OF OUR SCHOOL COMMUNITY INCLUDING STAFF, VISITORS, PARENTS AND STUDENTS TO FOLLOW THE 'HEATLEY WAY'.
"The Heatley Way" is on display in A3 illustrated colour posters throughout the school.

INSIDE THE CLASSROOM

Using "The Heatley Way" every classroom co-operatively devises its own Class Rules & Consequences poster. This is highly visible and parents are welcome to visit the classroom to have their student or the teacher explain it.

OUTSIDE THE CLASSROOM

Apart from following 'The Heatley Way' throughout the school, another basic school rule in the playground is: No hat- no play (be sun safe)

Our school grounds are divided into 4 sections for play:

  • For Prep students
  • For students who require additional support and need a quiet, highly supervised space
  • For Year 1 - 3 students
  • For Year 4 - 6 students

All students are expected to remain in their designated area for safety and supervision reasons.

See Class Times info about our rules for being in the school before and after school and what to do when waiting for school to start.
