People, Culture & Country Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art Project (Wearable Arts)
Thirteen year 6 students together with our CEC Miss Demi and Arts teacher Mrs Rush attended the opening yesterday of the exhibition at the Townsville Civic Theatre. Heatley SS has actively participated in this program since 2019 which was recognised as the state winner at the
2020 Queensland Department of Education Showcase Awards for Excellence in schools
.
Miss Demi, Mrs Rush and volunteer parents have worked with the group of Year 6 students who elected or were selected to be in this project on Thursday afternoons during Terms 2 & 3.
They have done an amazing job and produced two beautiful wearable art pieces.
The exhibition includes work from many local primary and secondary schools and is open to the public at the Civic Theatre until 11 November. Links to the catalogue of all artworks can be found on the
Heatley Secondary College
website.
